The rain dances
around me - and you
as wee stand
holding our breath
at the possibility of it all

Our eyes are closed
and we step forward
Close - your hand is soft
warm against my bare back
Gentle - careful

The midnight music
is loud across the street
and we are alone
left to our silence
a cacophony

Your lips press aginst my jaw
and you pull me closer
inside you - inside me
stillness pervades

You speak
an eternity of wait has ended
standing in the trees
wrapping arms
and rain

Humpty Dumpty

Pain travels
from limb to limb
I clench -
toes
thighs
I try to be strong
finally tearing apart
my chest cries out
and I am in pieces
too weak
I silently cry
falling tear
from cheek to chin
it slides
and I break apart
unknowing as to how
I will be put back together
